This is a beautiful piece of late 19th century silk damask with a little cotton in the mix for durability, depicting a peacock, pheasant and magnolia flowers etc. It is unevenly faded over time with a patina of age, see photos, it was salvaged from a very damaged chateau curtain panel. The original colour would have been bight gold and olive green, but it has faded to a more mellow, uneven paler gold and paler olive.
It is in quite good condition, just the uneven fading and a few signs of wear such as some minor marks - please note the fabric is still fairly strong but may be too delicate for anything that sees a lot of wear, but it would frame beautifully.
It measures about 43.5" by 21.5" or 1.1 meters by 54.5 cms. thank you for looking.

Welcome to Morgaine Le Fay Antique Textiles, a treasure trove of antique and vintage textiles maintaine by vanye90. I am an obsessive collector of beautiful fabric and other textiles, I love pattern, colour and texture, and this is reflected in the stock I buy. I love the 'shabby chic' look where the patina of age and use are celebrated, as well as the more utilitarian Shaker style and the pretty country cottage look, and always carry stock that would work well with these types of interiors.
I source antique fabrics, linens, lace, embroideries, passementerie trims, ribbons, gold and silver metal threads and much much more. I have a fondness for French textiles, and you will find plenty here. I also look out for wonderful antique and vintage curtains, they have so much more character than newly bought ones.
I am always more than happy to put together project packs for customers containing certain types of fabric or haberdashery, for example antique French tickings, florals etc, or different types of ribbon/lace. If you are on the look-out for anything specific, why not contact me, I may be able to help.
I constantly update my listings, adding a few more things most days, so please save me to your favourite seller list, and check back often, I may have just what you are looking for!
Please note that most of my items are antique or vintage, and show signs of age as noted on the listings. they will not look pristine and new, if this is what you are looking for, my listings may not be what you are looking for.
I am always mote than happy to combine postage for multiple items where possible, this can often lead to a substantial reduction.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, vanye90.
