Superb Vintage Set of 12 Novelty Shape 183.9g Sterling Silver Dining Table Place Name Card Holders
This Set of 12 Novelty Shape Dining Table Place Name Holders consists of 24 off white coloured blank place name cards, 4 x Cast Sterling Silver Frogs, 4 x Cast Sterling Silver stylized Dolphins and 4 x Cast Sterling Silver Pineapples that all have slots in their bodies that hold one of the place name cards.
Each Frog measures approximately 3/4 of an inch or 19 mm across the width of its body from side to side by 7/8 of an inch or 22 mm across the depth of its body from the frogs mouth to its back and it stands just over 7/8 of an inch or 23 mm tall to the top of the frogs mouth.
Each Dolphin measures approximately 7/8 of an inch or 22 mm across the width of its lower body from side to side by 7/8 of an inch or 22 mm across the depth of its lower body from front to back and it stands 1 3/8 inches or 35 mm tall to the top of the Dolphins tail.
Each Pineapple measures approximately 5/8 of an inch or 15 mm across the width or diameter of its body from side to side and it stands 1 inch or 26 mm tall from top to bottom.
All 12 place name holders are made from cast 925 standard sterling silver and they have each been raised relief and engrave decorated to give them their individual definition, the place name holders have a combined silver weight of 183.9 grams and they are complete with a full set of 24 blank place name cards, the dining table place name holders have Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and they have all been impressed with matching English 925 standard sterling silver hallmarks that include the silversmith or sponsors mark RC of Carr's of Sheffield Ltd along with the Lion Passant mark of English 925 standard sterling silver and they have the English Rose mark of the Sheffield assay office, I estimate that this set was made circa 1980's.
Thecondition is used and Mint for their age.
The place name holders look like they have Never been used.
The place name holders have NoDents, No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I canfind, all 12 place nameholders stand straight and they are all working perfectly, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the silver hallmarks are all still clearly legiblealthough as they are vintage place name holders they do have the patina of age that to be expected and as they have some tarnishing of age a good clean would enhance them greatly. PersonallyI think that this set of place name holders can stillbe used today andthat they would look wonderful on a dining table together, I also think that they have a delightful look about them considering their age.
