The sale:
This is a BASIC set of 6 definitive stamps FVF and MNH. It contains Rotary Press Regular Issues with Scott numbers 1209 to 1229. The 1961 1962 1963 definitives filled the gap between the huge Liberty and Prominent Americans issues. This will provide you with a complete regular set.
Scott 2013 reassigned the 1961 John J. Pershing stamp from Liberty to this set with new number 1214. In keeping with Scott we have moved Pershing to this set. Regular Issues were the definitive workhorse of the era. The Washington stamps paid the new Jan. 1963 rate change to 5c for 1 oz mail. The penny Jackson stamps were used as make up rate with leftover 4c stamps from the earlier rate period.
The early 1960s were an experimental period and the stamps was first issued without tagging and then later printed with tagging (sold separately). This basic set may have minor number substitution. For those that collect specialized, we offer special variety sets in the TBR store.
Some of the beautiful stamps have very fine centering. There is a 30% premium for VF but we offer better quality at our regular low price! The specific catalogue numbers of these stamps are: 1208, 1209, 1213, 1214, 1225 & 1229!
