A STUNNING ORIGINAL ART DECO - EDWARDIAN CIGARETTE HOLDER IN SOLID MOTHER OF PEARL WITH A 14-16K GOLD RIM IN ITS ORIGINAL LEATHER BOX FROM FRANCE AND DATING TO C1880-1920.
This is a very special Art Deco - Edwardian cigarette holder. It is made of hand carved solid Mother-Of-Pearl with a gorgeous lustre - very special. The end is 14-16K solid gold. The holder is in its original leather case with a silk interior with the words Or Controle in gold. The holder comes from one of the most prominent NY families. This was made by a superb artisan, probably in France, and is suitable for the finest collection of tobacciana or Objects de Vertu. I believe the holder dates to around 1880-1920.
The holder is 6 cm long and the gold end is 11 mm wide. It is in excellent condition. The case closes securely. The gold tests for 14-16K.
