Scarce Greek translation of the Old Testament, containing a Latin introduction. Originally released as two volumes in one, this is a scarce variant, containing only part II.
François Halma, born 3 January 1653 at Langerak, and died at Leeuwarden 13 January 1722, was printer and publisher. Since 1674 he was active in Utrecht as bookseller and later as academic printer. In 1699 he moved to Amsterdam, where he was active till 1711. On 10 May 1701 he was appointed as academic printer in Franeker and in 1709 he got the appointment by the States of Friesland as landscape printer. He moved to Leeuwarden and there he published maps and atlases from Nicolaas Witsen, Bernard Schotanus à Sterringa and Menno Alting. His tombstone is situated in the Reformed Church at Minnertsga in Friesland.
Bound in original gilt embellished Dutch leather binding, with the spine with gilt title, deco and raised bands, the boards with gilt dentilles to the edges. Light external wear. Internally tight with a few small scattered stains and some edge browning. Large volume -10 1/2"x 8 1/4" x 1 1/4".

stamping and spine label residue. Some cracking
to hinges. No frontispiece
