1762 Colonial Period Stampless Folded Letter-port Royal Va-quebec C/o Ny Firm:
1762 Colonial Period Stampless Folded Leter datelined at Port Royal, Virginia on January 12, 1762. Detailed, if a bit pessimistic, business letter from Robert Gilchrist. Addressed to a "Merchant In Quebec" care of a merchant firm in New York, apparently acting as forwarder. Manuscript note reading, "(Postage to N York paid)" on face, though I see no obvious postal markings.
CONDITION: Poor/Good. Damages. Separations and tears along folds. Creasing and heavy folds. Some ink running/smudging. Pencil marks/numbers on reverse near docketing. Wear and toning.
