SIGNED BY "EBENEZER MOSELEY," WHO WAS COMMITTEE OF CORRESPONDENCE IN WINDHAM AND A COLONEL IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR. THE DOCUMENT LISTS MANY DIFFERENT ITEMS AND THEIR COSTS INCLUDING PORK, BEEF, RYE FLOUR, CLOTH, WHITENED, BLUE CLOTH, WHITE WOOLEN CLOTH, HOP, AND BUSHEL OF OATS FOR A TOTAL OF FIVE HUNDRED THREE POUNDS TWO SHILLINGS AND TWO PENCE. BACK OF DOCUMENT READS: "TOTALS OF PROVISIONS & CLOATHING- EBENr MOSELEY RETURN-". EBENEZER MOSELEY WAS BORN IN WINDHAM, CONNECTICUT IN 1740. HE RECEIVED A DEGREE FROM YALE IN 1763. BECAME A MISSIONARY TO SIX NATIONS BETWEEN 1767-1772. AND HE WAS COMMITTEE OF CORRESPONDENCE IN 1774 IN WINDHAM. IN 1774 THE COMMITTEE WROTE TO THE BRITISH, WHO WERE ATTACKING BOSTON AT THAT TIME, THAT WINDHAM WAS SENDING A GIFT TO THEM (258 SHEEP) OF THANKS AND SOLIDARITY. THEN ABOUT A YEAR LATER, IT WAS IRONIC THAT EBENEZER MOSELEY BECAME A CAPTAIN, LATER A COLONEL, IN THE FIGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE. WINDHAM COUNTY LATER GAINED THE REPUTATION FOR COURAGE AND SUPPORT FOR INDEPENDENCE. EBENEZER MOSELEY WAS REPRESENTATIVE TO GENERAL COURT, THE FIRST LEGISLATIVE BODY IN CONNECTICUT, BETWEEN 1776-1806 IN HAMPTON, WINDHAM, CT, SERVING 20 TERMS.
