This item is a wonderful, document dated 1781, the Town of Hebron, Connecticut, for the payment of troop supplies....signed at bottom right by William Mosely and Eleazer Wales, document is 6x8, overall very good condition.
Eleazer Wales, 1732-1794 appears to have studied medicine, and according to one account was practicing at Willington, Tolland County, Conn., in 1763. In May, 1765, however, being then of Mansfield, in Windham County, he was licensed to preach by the County Association of Ministers.
In 1779 he was admitted to the (ad eundem) degree of Master of Arts at Dartmouth College. At this period of his life he lived at Hartford, and was prominent in civil affairs. From May, 1780 to 1785, or later he was a member of the Committee of the Pay Table of the State.
He married, on December 4, 1757, Sarah Norton, by whom he had five daughters and three sons, of whom three daughters and two sons survived him. His widow died at Otisco, Onondaga County, New York on February 4, 1817, in her 76th year.
