An original manuscript deed for land in Little Falls Plantation, York, District of Maine, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, sold by Josiah Waters of Boston to Edward Smith of Little Falls, dated December 24, 1788.... Waters states the land was given to him by order of the Supreme Judicial Court of the Commonwealth. Little Falls, known today as Hollis, was established as a trading post and blockhouse, and as late as 1754 settlers were driven away by Indians. This copy of the deed was recorded March 16, 1791 by William Frost, York County Registrar of Deeds.....Two pages, size 7 1/2\" x 12 1/2\", hand made rag paper, folds, very good condition, an historic Maine document signed by a Revolutionary War hero..........WILLIAM FROST was a Continental Army officer who served seven years during the American Revolution. He was at the Siege of Boston, the Battle of Long Island, the Battle for Manhattan, New York and Valley Forge. In 1779 he was appointed Barrack Master at the fortress of West Point, and served as Commissary General for Patterson\'s Brigade of Continental troops. After the war he served as Surveyor General and Registrar of Deeds of York County, Massachusetts, Justice of the Peace and County Treasurer.......Guaranteed original.....$3.00 shipping............
