1795, Jabez Fisher, Provinical Congress, Franklin, Massachusetts, Document For Sale
This is a wonderful, original document dated 1795, Franklin, Massachusetts, where Jabez Fisher has signed a writ regarding payment due for a case heard in Franklin, Massachusetts, signed Jabez Fisher at lower right. Docuemnt is 8x9, overall fine shape.
A son of Ebenezer and Abigail Ellice Fisher; married Mary Adams, daughter of John & Sarah Fairbanks Adams. Jabez was chosen as “one of the council of twenty-eight which acted as the executive during the opening Revolution, and of which were John and Samuel Adams, Robert Treat Paine, and John Hancock. He was considered the special watchman of the country part of Suffolk County, then including Franklin, and brought its forces into action. Jabez Fisher was a member of the Governor's Council, the Provincial Congress, and the Committee of safety. He was a Delegate to the Massachusetts Constitutional Convention which ratified the U.S. Constitution in 1788.
