17th Century Vellum Indenture Warley Salop Halesowen Birmingham 1698
Vellum indenture measuring approximately 27 inches by 25 inches. 2 signatures and seals: one of the signatures is a "W" mark so presumably he could not write.
The document relates to the transfer of land in the village of Warley Salop, consisting of a "Dwelling House or Tenament together with all Barnes, Stables, Edifices and Buildings Gardens and Orchards." The parties to the agreement are:
William Underhill of Warley Salop in the parish of Halesowen, "Sonne and heire of Thomas Underhill....(?) upon the Body of Elianor his late wife" along with Mary Underhill, the wife of William.
In consideration of the sum of "one hundred and eighty five pounds of good and lawful money" the land is to be transferred to William Cotterill of Birmingham. Signatures of witnesses to reverse.
The document is complete and has no later amendments, alterations or archive stamps. There is some age darkening to the vellum. One very small hole to the top margin but very good condition overall for a document of this age.
Will be packed in a suitable box
