This is a museum quality, 1800’s,silver plated, Master Sugar or Tea Caddy that bears the hallmark of James WTufts of Boston Massachusetts. A gorgeous, antique piece that measures 9.50inches high and 5.25 inches in diameter at the top of the glass. The holder is phenomenalwith a lovely, embossed design on the bottom and feet. The finial on the handlehas a cut out floral and leaf design and the finial on the cover a fan design.A pattern glass bowl with a block pattern sits securely on the base. The Tuftspiece is hallmarked and notes it is, “Quadruple Plate.” The trademark wasregistered in 1875, and the company was out of business around 1914. Thepattern number, “2202” is an early onesuggesting the master sugar/ tea caddy was made in the late 1800’s, through the 1890\'s. The conditioncan be described as EXCELLENT MUSEUM QUALITY ESTATE CONDITION and looks as if seldom used. There are no repairs,flaking, chips, cracks, flea bites, dents or silver wear to note.
