YET ANOTHER GREAT ESTATE SALE FIND
Presented is a handsome large English sterling silver soup or punch ladle with a fancy bowl, made by Thomas Wallis and Jonathan Hayne. The ladle has an elegant rounded handle with a great crest SEE PHOTOS.The ladle is marked on the reverse with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head crowned for London, the date letter ‘S’ for 1813, the duty mark, and a maker’s mark of TW over JH for Thomas Wallis and Jonathan Hayne
. The hallmarks are still discernible.
The ladle is in estate excellent condition, especially considering its age. It has light surface wear, but this is minor. We have not polished this item. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.
The ladle is 13 inches long. Fancy bowl is 4” wide
The weight is Approx 5.5 troy ounces.
