This item is a wonderful, letter dated 1818, Washington D.C. where L.McLane has written a letter to a friend regarding the local gossip and scandals of various families and the fact that it may work out to his advantage, as the rooms of the Ashman's seem to be leaving the city in a hurry....also comments on the fact that such a great city should such little consideration for boarding members of the government or strangers visiting.....a great four page letter, signed at end by L.McLane. Letter is 8x10, folds, in overall very good condition.
