The Bank of Vincennes started operations in 1814 and operated until 1817 when the charter was modified to make it a State Bank with branches in Brookville, Corydon, and Vevay. It served the state for many years before failing in 1821/22 due to poor business practices.
This note was issued during the later period when it was a State Bank and was redeemable at their Brookville branch.
