This letter dated 1821, Sturbridge, Massachusetts, is from Captain Hiram Wheelock to General William Crawford regarding the fact that he has been able to set up his new regiment...very descriptive letter about the men and the manner in which they enlisted..signed Hiram Wheelock...., three pages, addressed outer leaf, in overall good condition.

Hiram Wheelock, born in Charlton, settled early in Sturbridge, Ma, where he remained until his removal to Boston in 1839; removed to Warren in 1843; afterward to Newton, and finally to Boston, where he died in 1857. He was actively interested in the State Militia, and was for many years a Colonel in the Force.
