First American Edition.The first collection of Jefferson’s writings, edited and published by Jefferson’s eldest grandson and executor Thomas Jefferson Randolph three years after Jefferson’s death. Randolph sold Monticello after his grandfather’s death, and went on to become the Rector of the University of Virginia. Jefferson was one of the great thinkers of the American Revolution - author of the Declaration of Independence as we know it (he extensively revised a much weaker document), Ambassador to France, and President of the United States - Jefferson was revered in his own time, and his opinion on politics and philosophy was often sought by his peers. Jefferson is truly one of the most influential men in American history. Jefferson's papers deal with general facts, anecdotes, historical circumstances, etc., relating to the Confederation of the States, origin and early stages of the contest with Great Britain, Declaration of Independence, Jefferson's death (addressed to a great variety of individuals), notes of conversations whilst Secretary of State with President Washington and others in high office, Includes essays by Jefferson on history, politics, science, morals, and religion.

FedEx does not ship to P.O. boxes, and so any shipment to a P.O. box will be sent via USPS Media Mail. Overseas shipments will be sent either USPS Express Mail or Priority Mail International. International surface mail is no longer offered. Combined shipping is always available.
