The first edition of the work.

John Ashburnham was an English courtier and politician. He became well known to King Charles I as a supporter in the English Civil War and later became his attendant and trusted confidante. This is the first time the work has been printed, since being penned and also includes a treatise defending his character by his descendants and representatives.


CONDITION

In uniform institutional library cloth bindings. Externally, excellent. Some light marks to boards. Institutional bookplate of Dundee Public Libraries to front pastedown of both volumes. Institutional stamps to front free endpapers of both volumes. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with some scattered spotting. Institutional ink stamp to title page of both volumes and occasionally throughout both volumes. Ink signature to title page of both volumes.
