AredStaffordshire transferwareNautical Themeplate.

This is a bright and highly glazedscalloped rim plate, a nice light ironstone or earthenware with blue pearlware high Smaller plate,measures 7 1/2" across,compare with otheritems (Not Included!) in the last photo.

The platefeatures a wide scrollingfloral, seashell, and anchorborder, thecentralscene (which varies in the series) man overboard into a small boat, the shipwreck in the background.

Theplate isin excellentcondition, no chips,cracks,crazing, stains, or repair. Isee about a dozen light utensil marks on the front when tilted in the light, on the reverse a pin head size flick and 3 tiny spots of discoloration on the foot rim.

Plate has an impressed mark and thepattern"The Sea", thepotter isWilliam Adams,Staffordshire, ca 1830s.
