This very rare and highly sought after, Hand Colored, Folding Pocket Map of the United States is printed on VERY delicate paper stock. Overall the Map is in very good condition. The map is complete and intact, the hand coloring is bright and vibrant and the sheet is generally very clean with a small area of foxing in the area of Illinois and another in south central Canada. There are a small number of short separations at the fold lines, a couple of tiny holes at couple of the fold junctions and some light age toning along some areas of the fold lines. Overall the map is very well preserved and displays beautifully. The gold gilt lettered and elaborately blind stamped cloth covers are well preserved - clean and crisp with the gold gilt lettering being bright and bold and very attractive and with light edge wear to the full leather covered boards some fading to the spine and a partial split at the bottom of the spine. The 78 page booklet is complete, intact and sound and very well preserved - generally clean throughout with only some minor and very scattered light foxing.
A very rare and highly desirable, 1834 / 1842, Hand Colored, Folding Map of the United States and a fantastic addition to any Library or Collection!!!
