Charles Henry Cooper (1808-1866) was an English antiquarian. His most important work, the Athenæ Cantabrigienses (1858, 1861), a companion work to the famous Athenæ Oxonienses by Anthony Wood, contains biographical memoirs of the authors and other men of eminence who were educated at the University of Cambridge from 1500 to 1609.
Thompson Cooper (1837-1904) was an English journalist, man of letters, and compiler of reference works. He became a specialist in biographical information, and is noted as the most prolific contributor to the Victorian era Dictionary of National Biography, for which he wrote 1423 entries. He compiled Athenae Cantabrigienses with his father Charles Henry Cooper.
The binding is tight and firm. There is mild wear to the extremities, including mild bumping and fading. Internally the pages are bright with very slight browning to the page edges of the first and last couple of pages, and the occasional scattered foxing. Overall the condition is very good.
