1860 Abraham Lincoln / Hannibal Hamlin Ferrotype Presidential Campaign Pin For Sale
Very rare and original, 1860 Abraham Lincoln / Hannibal Hamlin Presidential Campaign Ferrotype!!! This beautiful Ferrotype measures approx. 15/16” in diameter and features a tintype portrait of Abraham Lincoln on one side and of Hannibal Hamlin on the other. Around the brass frame that holds the images it reads “Abraham Lincoln / 1860” on the side with Hamlin’s photograph and “Hannibal Hamlin / 1860” on the side with Lincoln’s photo (the photographs were originally mounted on the wrong sides). The brass "frame" retains a significant amount of the original, gold colored, gilt surface and rim has a hole at the top edge for suspension from a ribbon badge as is typical of this type of Ferrotype Campaign Piece.
This original, 1860 Abraham Lincoln / Hannibal Hamlin Presidential Campaign Ferrotype is in very good condition. The Lincoln Tintype is well preserved - clean and crisp with sharp focus, strong contrast and rich tonality. There is no surface crazing and only a few thin and small scratches that are MUCH less obtrusive and obvious when the Ferrotype is viewed in hand than they are in the scans below. The Hamlin Tintype also exhibits sharp focus, strong contrast and rich tonality and has a number of small surface scratches that, again, are MUCH less obvious and obtrusive when the Ferrotype is viewed in hand than they are in the scans below. The surfaces of both Tintypes are stable and sound with no surface crazing or flaking. The Rims of the Ferrotype retain much of their original, gold gilt surface as can be seen in the scans below. Overall this very rare Lincoln / Hamlin Ferrotype is well preserved and displays nicely.
A very rare and very desirable, 1860 Abraham Lincoln / Hannibal Hamlin Presidential Campaign Ferrotype and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
