It is in good condition.It says in part:Sally Pais here at house in PM cars got here on evening heavy mail.Mt Vernon band played here…Good days trade.Party at Jackson’s Hall in evening.Lincoln InauguratedPresident in Washington…Worked at shelfing goods, President’s message received…Store full of customers, Hyde came home from California…Thunderstorm in night, Indians in store, good days trade…Mail train in at 5:30 Extra out stating that Fort Sumter was surrendered…Put Flag over store.John down from Lisbon got 2 names on T Guards…Gunning in Am got some Pigeons.Lumber from Depot for fence engine went down very fast for freight…President called for extra session of Congress and 75000 troops…Band up from Tipton recruiting for army.Sold gold watch to Ed Wimms for $80Great battle at Bulls Run and Manassas Junction day before yesterday…Heard of Battle at Springfield Missouri.Gen Lyon killed also McCulloch and Price…Some volunteers left for the war.Load of goods came from Sweltard…Volunteers from Mt Vernon went thru on noon train.Dayton Putty Chapman’s Child buried…Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
