1861 Springfield Trenton Contract Full Length Walnut Stock With Hardware For Sale
Here is an Original Civil War Trenton New Jersey contract stock complete with all hardware to include the ramrod which I suspect is not original issue. Lock internals are clean and strong. Theitem was painted at one time in the distant past and an attempt was made to remove the paint, damaging the cartouche. Traces of paint remain overall. In need of alot of clean up and some TLC. The soundness of the wood is outstanding and only has some splitting in the lock area. The areas in the barrel bands just show shellac and finish buld-up and is not rotten wood.
There is Light to medium pitting on all metal surfaces. Stock has been drilled forward of the trigger and has a deep dimple on the left side of the barrel channel. Buttplate has small hole drilled in center. Some Screws have tool markings. Missing the hammer screw/broken off. Sling swivels arefrozen in place.
This would make a great restoration project for the right person. On the barrel that was with the stock, the stampings are NJ left side, A2 next to the bolster instead of the eagle head and VPand a "P T.B.S." on the underside. I will be offering this barrel at a later date. See my other listings for accessories that go with this antique.
sale for US buyers only. If you have questions please ask and I will be happy to answer. I have many more shots of different angles.
