1862 Camp Michigan, Va Civil War Letter “death Of Son” Signed Capt. Wm. Humphrey

1862 CAMP MICHIGAN, VA, CIVIL WAR LETTER “DEATH OF SON,” SIGNED CAPT. WM. HUMPHREY. A very thoughtful and detailed letter regarding the death of a soldier, John F. Morse, written and signed by Capt. William Humphrey, Company D, 2nd Regiment, Michigan Volunteers. Two-page letter, with toning and light stains, early (small) tape repairs at two folds.

NOTE real photo adhered to upper left (presumably of Capt. Humphrey). Includes envelope to Mary J. Adams, Fitzwilliam, NH (stamp cut off).

I will be listing a collection of 18th- and 19th-century documents and letters, most of which pertain to the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and American whaling industry. The transcriptions are my best interpretation of the penmanship. You should review the photos I have posted in each listing and decide for yourself.
