1862 Civil War Letters Co. K 83rd Regiment Pennsylvania 3 Letters:
I am offering for sale, a Group of 1862-1863 Civil War Era Letters from Soldier in Company K, 83rd Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers to his family, and 1 from his father to him. They are in Good to Very Good Condition, Original, wear and tear on 3 x 5 1/2 inch envelopes, letters are in ink and pencil, legible. Letter dated december 17, 1862 from soldier to family in Dauphin County, Pa., tells of battle he was just in. Describes battle as a "brisk time", 8 wounded, 1 missing, and a Captain Smith was wounded in leg. The soldier, John Ditty, asks family to send letters, and thanks them for gloves they sent him. Letter from father to John on Dec. 20, 1862, tells of their concern when they heard about battle, could of been battle of Fredericksburg, which Co. was engaged in, earlier in December. Family letterwrites about "William",and hisCompany which has been engaged inrounding up deserters. It is a 4 page letter. lots of great content. Last letter is from soldier to father, dated January 22, 1863, camp near Belle Plain Landing, Virginia, tells of marching and moving companyin muddy conditions, lots of rain. Letters from soldier Ditty, are 2 page letters. All letters are stamped and cancelled. A great group of Civil War Correspondence, sold as a lot.
