1863 Civil War Confederate Alabama Ledger "Wheat Book", Supplies- Forney
Handwritten book pertaining to J[oseph] B. Forney, chief of the home guards for Jacksonville, Calhoun County, AL during the Civil War. He build the Forney-Weaver house in 1864 and was the brother of CSA generals William H. Forney and John H. Forney (both of 10th Alabama.)
The book is handmade with leaf from a textbook utilized as a cover. Front cover reads, pencil "Wheat Book for the Government...1863"
16pp fillednoting quality of wheat received, names, dates. One page headed "Flour delivered JB Forney"; plus hauling, wheat; "Oct. 25 Shipd to Depot today for Revnd Pierce Mobile...15 sacks.", "Wheat delvered for Mr Allen of Mobile by M[?] Cook...".
