Published in 1864, this handy little book was intended to be carried as a pocket-guide to all significant aspects of Freemasonry. These copies are becoming scarcer by the day, and few are as nice of an example as presented here. Dealing Critically and impartially with the traditions, customs, records, degrees and ceremonies of the Brotherhood, this manual contains the actual rites of the craft, extending over a period of some seven centuries and that of its grand structures.
An often highly guarded and secretive society, the fraternal brotherhood of the Freemasons remains a subject of wild fascination for historians, scholars, and general enthusiasts alike. Written by Daniel Sickels he was a prominent Freemason, and was known for publishing and editing a number of Masonic works.
The Freemason's Monitor delivers in a single volume the vast history of the craft from Masonic Initiation rituals in the various degrees from Entered Apprentice to The High Order of the Priesthood, along with Symbols, Grips, handshakes, secrets, and regalia. In addition, it contains the three degrees of Knighthood including Knights of the Red Cross, The Knights Templar, and the Knights of Malta giving a brief account of the rituals of the craft including installation, encampment, and burial ceremonies. Throughout the book is profusely illustrated with nearly 300 Symbolic Engravings.
