1865 60mm Abraham Lincoln table medal "Emancipation of Slavery Proclaimd"
1865 60mm Abraham Lincoln table medal "Emancipation of Slavery Proclaimd" :
RARE and in Excellent condition this 1865 Abraham Lincoln Emancipation of Slavery medal by Hugues Bovy. Bronze, 60 mm. 116.4 grams King-229. Choice Mint State. Rich deep chocolate brown with lustrous, reflective surfaces. Some darker color blends subtly across the reverse, and both sides offer superb eye appeal. An impressive medal with a bold and expressive high relief portrait of Lincoln, this serves as both a memorial to the slain president and a celebration of the Emancipation Proclamation of September 22, 1862. There are two varieties of this medal. King-229, as here, reads "Emancipation of Slavery Proclaimd," while on King-230 the word "Proclaimed" is spelled out. This seems to be somewhat scarcer than the King-230 variety. Given the large size of this medal, many examples show cabinet friction and handling, but this one has remained choice and problem-free. A similar example sold for 840 Euro ex fees at Bruun Rasmussen sale. Will be carefully packed and quickly shipped. Please ask any questions before buying. What you see is what you get.
