This listing is for the original hardcover, cloth over board covered book, 5.5"x8.5", 114 pages.
What is interesting about this book is that it has original corrections penned in and also bound with typed pieces of paper. See photos. I don't think you'll find another of these with all the original corrections.
Established at the end of the Civil War, The Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, usually referred to as simply the Freedmen's Bureau, was an agency of the United States Department of War to "direct such issues of provisions, clothing, and fuel, as he may deem needful for the immediate and temporary shelter and supply of destitute and suffering refugees and freedmen and their wives and children." The Bureau helped solve everyday problems of the newly freed slaves, such as obtaining clothing, food, water, health care, communication with family members, and jobs.
