Mackey :: Published by New York: Clark & Maynard :: Measures 6 x 8" :: Complete with 254 Pages.

VERY GOOD CONDITION: A tightly bound volume, solid hinges, a few pencil marks throughout otherwise clean internally, cover in good shape, complete with all pages and illustrations; overall a great condition example of this rare masonic guide.

DESCRIPTION:

An often highly guarded and secretive society, the fraternal brotherhood of the Freemasons remains a subject of wild fascination for historians, scholars, and general enthusiasts alike.

As Mackey states in the preface, this book has been compiled to supply the means of enabling the young Mason or the recent initiate more thoroughly to understand the ceremonies of the first Three Symbolic Degrees of Freemasonry and to extend his researches into that sublime system of symbolism of which in the ordinary lectures of the Lodge he has received only the faint outlines.

Mackey aimed here to place in the hands of every beginning a Mason a book in which he may find a lucid explanation all that has excited his curiosity or attracted his interest in the Chapter degrees, and above all, to furnish an elementary treatise of easy comprehension on the whole truth of symbolism and philosophy of the Monitorial instructions and Ceremonies of the Order. Throughout this work contains Masonic symbolism, working tools of Free Masons, the jewels of Freemasonry, secret rituals, funeral ceremonies, and much more including numerous illustrations.
