Although we have handled quite a few 19th century Photographs of Hunters over the past 33+ years, we have seen only one or two Images in which the hunter displayed a decoy. We can only imagine the value of the beautiful, folk art / hand carved Duck Decoy displayed in this Tintype if it appeared on the market today and the Photo offered here is a rare opportunity to at least get a glimpse of this wonderful Decoy.
This outstanding, American Hunting / Duck Decoy Tintype Photo is in very good condition. The Photo exhibits sharp focus, strong contrast and rich, warm tonality. The surface is stable with no significant surface crazing, no bends, no scratches and onlya very light surface scuff (much more visible in the scans nelow than when viewed "in-hand") and a couple of tiny and unobtrusive surface blemishes. The paper CDV mount is well preserved - opened at the right hand side to allow for full inspection of the edges of the Tintype (easily closed again). Overall this outstanding Tintype is exceptionally well preserved and displays beautifully.
