Early1870s Large Wax Angel with Gold Dresden Wings.

This is at least 1870s, and I would venture to say, well before.

It does have its issues.

One hand has been replaced and repaired.

And the wings need some work.

I purchased this early in my teaching career while attending a writer's conference.

This conference was in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

It is molded of solid wax, and I would also say, made by a baker who used different molds to make wax ornaments.

This was in the very early years.

Wonderful face.

Blond mohair hair, with some missing in back as you can see.

A metal gold crown pushed into hr head.

The one arm is perfect, and the other arm was replaced.

This a professional doll person could restore.

But I never did get to do that with this angel.

The wonderful silver, gold, and lace fabric to cloth the angel.

Cardboard Dresden gold wings on back on springs inserted into back of body.

But they too, could use some restoration.

Metal hook inserted into back of body with original wire used to hang it on the tree.

Detail is amazing if you look closely at hands and toes.

A very early angel.

Often hung by rubber bands so they would sway and seem to fly through the boughs.

7.00" and in very good shape, at least I say, considering her very early age.

And add to that, solid wax.

It is almost a miracle that she survived down to day.

There is nothing wrong with angel OTHER THAN WHAT IS MENTIONED ABOVE. In fact, they are in very good shape. They are vintage, not reproductions. I guarantee that. I start all my sales at .99 cents as it is an sale and I just never cared when I went to live sale and the saleeer started very high, and then spent time backing down to get a offer.
