JOHN ROGERS GROUP “RIP VAN WINKLE AT HOME”. Signed in fronttop ofbase “John Rogers, New York”and “Patented March 14, 1871” carved on the back of sculpture onone ofthe rocks he is sitting on. Figural group shows a seated gentleman with two children at side, one with gun. SIZE: 19” h x 9” w x 9” d. and roughly 21lbs.
This Beautiful cast Plaster Sculpture Shows some wear,rubbing, chipping, and finish loss. This sculpture has a light tannish brown patina to the paint on the sculpture and the paint appears to beflaking. Base of sculpture along side shows scratches. Also little girlshas asmall chip on the side of her hat and bottom of her dress shows a few spots of rubbing.
