1873 COLT 1ST GENERATION HAMMER TYPE THREE CHECKING USED ON THE PREWAR MODELS, 1908 THRU 1940, SERIAL RANGE 305000 TO 357859. This hammer has not been refinished. Color case has turned to silver patina with light color on the front and rear edges. The edges are square with no rounding.Checking is machine impressed, no border or hash mark. Notches have been professionally restored and fitted on a hammer trigger fixture for tolerance checks. Firing pin is the conical type. This era revolver has risen steadily in value for particuliar years as production was winding down during the depression and prior to the war. Some years production was down to 100 units per year shipment and makes them rare when collecting by year of manufacture. Also many were not used heavily and are in excellent condition. This hammer is not for 95 to 100 percent guns and has seen some usage. The firing pin, roller cam, bolt cam and notches are good. The buyer should be familiar with the historical changes and features of colt or consult a knowlegable person or smith to accomplish this fitting. This part may or may not correct timing problems without inspection and adjustment of all internal parts. This part will not correct timing problems caused by frame, cylinder or associated parts wear caused by years of hard use. I do not tear down revolvers to sell individual parts. I do not guarantee that this part will fit any particular gun historically as I have no control of it once shipped. Check photo's carefully email questions prior to offerding. Hammer is from my personal parts bin collection. Thanks for looking. PLEASE NOTE; IF YOU ALTER OR DAMAGE A PART AFTER SHIPPING, MIGHT MAKE ME REFUND YOU HOWEVER I WILL BLOCK YOU FROM ALL FUTURE PURCHASES AND TELL ALL WHEN I REPORT YOU. REPLACING A PART ON A COLT REVOLVER REQUIRES CHECKING\FITTING ALL OTHER INTERNAL PARTS. REMOVING A FUNCTIONING PART FROM ONE COLT AND PLACING IT ON ANOTHER PROBABLY WILL NOT WORK ON THIS WORN OUT ONE. BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING LEAVE IT ALONE. NOTE TO BUYER Lambec160o; YOU ALTERED A HAMMER, POLISHED IT TO COVER UP THE MISTAKE, THEN REQUESTED A REFUND THAT ISSUED AGAINST MY OBJECTIONS. A LOW BALL OFFER ACCEPTED THEN YOU GAVE ME AN UNSAT RATING. YOU ARE BARRED FROM PURCHASING ON MY SITE.
