On December 16, 1879 the City of Philadelphia held a Grand reception for President Ulysses S. Grant upon his return from a trip around the world. This celebration included a massive Parade through the City and the Token / Medal offered here was struck and distributed by the employees of the Philadelphia Mint to commemorate the great occasion.
We are not coin or token dealers and do not know how to grade this type of brass token but have included high quality scans of the token which give a very good indication of the condition. There is light wear to the highest spots on both sides of the Token - the strike is strong and crisp and the Medal / Medalet is well preserved.
A rare, original mid 19th century Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Celebration Token / Medalet and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!
