The original atlas production run of about 400 copies was out of print by 1881 and never went to a second printing.

Walker published the first atlas of Barnstable County's towns and villages, binding together 66 individually engraved maps into one convenient volume The original production run of less than 400 books was fully subscribed and out of print by 1881. There never was a second printing.
- Through the collaborative efforts of the Trescott, Maine Historical Society and Moon River Press a new edition, carefully reprinted from Walker's original, has just been released and is for sale as a fund raiser at many local Cape Cod libraries, museums and historical societies, or may be purchased directly from the publisher.
- This atlas, an exact copy of the 1880 edition, is reproduced in an easy-to-handle 11" x 13 ½" format, digitally imaged on heavy, archival-quality paper. The maps identify every property owner by name, and show the precise locations of homesteads, barns, roads, schools, churches and cemeteries, mills, wharfs, stores, blacksmith shops, post offices and businesses in those towns and villages that were inhabited by 1879. The names on each of the sixty-six maps, no matter how small they appeared in the original, are reproduced in this edition with state-of-the-art clarity.
- Included in this atlas is a meticulously detailed history of Barnstable County through 1880, prepared especially for Walker's atlas by historian John B.D. Cogswell.
