1880 Lenzkirch Figural German Mantel Mantle Clock:

Rare, top-of-the-line, German Mantel Clock, by the Black Forest area famed Clockmaking company, Lenzkirch, with serial number of 591240 dating to 1880-1885. Bronze patina spelter, hours are white porcelain with cobalt blue enamel Roman numerals, 18" tall, on 9" x 6-1/4" ebonised wood base. Mythological figures front, back, sides, and finial. These early clocks were designed to be housed within decorative glass domes and were intentionally produced without glass to the front, and with no back door.
Condition: Our local clock specialists found it to be In good working order, and that the works could use a professional cleaning; accompanying replacement key; some gilt loss to the hands, hairlines to the back shell "crown" (most appear in photo), minor flakes to the upper portion of the porcelain Roman numeral 6 at the point of winding; minor scrapes and scratches to the wood; a few minor areas of diminished patina.
