1880 Mechanical Orguinette W/shutter * Exc. Condition * Great-playing Organette For Sale
Make sure to check out all of my sales after you've looked at this one. I've got some great items listed this week, and there should be something of interest to just about everyone. Here's an excellent, all-original Mechanical Orguinette roller organ manufactured in New York approximately 135 years ago.Condition of the organette is excellent throughout, and all of the small brass hardware appears to be original. The delicate gold cabinet decorations are all original and are all still beautiful, with minimal wear and very little fading. The crank is original, and it is unbent and undamaged. The cabinet finish is original and in excellent condition. The wood itself is still beautifully preserved. There's a small chip adjacent to the piston that drives the bellows (see photo), but the upper and lower housing are otherwise in superb original condition. The reeds are all working properly, and the notes are all clean and clear. The bellows are still tightly sealed, and the organette plays really well. The shutter operates properly and modulates the sound as it was designed to do. This compact beauty is a flatbed strip player, quite uncommon even for early organettes. It uses 14-note sheets of music that roll into one end of the mechanism and roll out the other. Included with it are three sheets of music from Schmidt's Music Rolls in Easton, Maryland. Dozens of other sheets are available from them on the internet. The organette measures just 12" long by 8" high by 12" wide (excluding the crank). Though the smallest Mechanical Orguinette I've ever seen, it's sound is quite resonant, and I think the winning buyer will be quite pleased. That's about it. I will pack it carefully and properly. sale participants with no prior response history should also contact me before placing a offer. Buyer prepays and includes shipping. Paypal okay.
