This Victorian dolman mantle cape is from the late 1880 to 90\'s. It is wool with heavy embroidered soutache trim, long fringe and covered balls. It is lined inside with silk with an inside pocket and a silk belt to tie at the waist.It has large eye hooks down the front for closure. The fringe down the front looks to be silk and is plain, but the fringe under the arms and all around the back and at the very ends of the long front has double knotted dangles mixed in with the fringe. Very nice example of this Victorian outer wear. It is shown of form with 34 bust and 15 inch shoulders. It will fit larger 36- 38 inch bust,shoulder to shoulder is 18 inches inside,neck is 16 inches, The front is 47 inches, down the back is 25 inches including the fringe.It is in good condition with a pencil tip size hole and pin hole both near the top of puffed shoulder. There are 4 pencil tip size hole down the long front in and around the soutache. Front fringe needs a stitch as is undone for about 1 inch. Some soutache shows the brown threads and would look better if cut off. Several missing dangles mostly from the fringe, so not as noticeable. I have several in an envelope that can be sewn back on.
