This wonderful, Child’s Toy Magic Lantern outfit is cased in its original, wood and paperboard box which measures approx. 9 1/2” by 7” by 3” tall and retains its original all over, paper paste down surface and illustrated label on the lid. The lantern when assembled is 10 1/4” tall (to the top of the chimney) and 6" long and 3" wide. It is made of tin and brass and contains its original burner / light source and tin reflector as well as a long tube front lens and a short lens insert. The original Box has two side compartments which each originally held 8 lantern slides. 12 of the 16 original lantern slides are included with this Kit.

The lantern is marked by the manufacturer Ernst Plank with an affixed, embossed tin label mounted on the side door of the Lantern and carries the mark of Ernst Plank of the illustrated pastedown label on the lid of the box.

This wonderful, boxed Children's Toy Magic Lantern is in very good condition - the lantern itself is very well preserved with no breaks, cracks, repairs of physical damage of any kind. The font and burner still retain the original wick and overall the Lantern is exceptionally well preserved. The black surface paint on the tin elements are also quite well preserved as can be seen in the scans below. As stated above, the Kit includes 12 of the original 16 Lantern Slides.

The original Box is in good condition overall. The bottom section of the Box is very well preserved - sound and intact with all of the wooden side pieces present and intact and the paperboard bottom panel well preserved also. The lid of the Box includes the upper paperboard panel and one of the three, wooden side flaps - included is the wooden side flap that attaches the lid to the base but the other three wooden side panels of the lid are lacking (again see the scans below).
