Extremely scarce circa 1884 Third-Party Presidential Campaign Broadside for Benjamin Butler of Massachussetts. Former Civil War General Benjamin Butler was the "third party " Presidential Nominee forthe Greenback or and Anti-Monopoly parties. He vehemently opposed Democratic Party candidate Grover Cleveland and tried to throw hisvotes over to Cleveland'sRepublican Party candidate James G. Blaine. This broadside declares Butler asPresidential Candidate for the "People's Party" andattempts to garnerpublic support and credibility by refering to him as "Gen. Benjamin Butler". It notes that Gov. W.W. Perry of Maine will speak at Parma Corners Town Hall. (Parma Corners is in the Rochester NY suburb of Parma NY.) It notes that "The Living Issues of the Day will be Honestly and Fearlessly Discussed". Thebroadside printer is noted at bottom as: "Post-Express Show Printing House, 12to 81 Mill Street, Rochester, N.Y."Approximate exterior dimensions are: 20-3/4" X 28". Condition; toning, stains. fold lines probably from it's original mailing.minor edge nicks andminor edge loss, light soiling, occassional scuffs, occassional small holes at intersections of fold lines as seen in scans.
