1884 Spruance, Stanley & Co. Liquor Dealers San Francisco Billhead Bitters:
Here's a nice original 1884 "SPRUANCE, STANLEY & CO Importers & wholesale Liquor Merchants San Francisco" billhead. This bill is made out to the Agostini Store in San Andreas, California and is a receipt for $69.45 worth of Martell Cognac and some vermouth.
It features a picture of an AFRICAN STOMACH BITTERS bottle, for which the company were the Sole Agents in San Francisco. Spruance, Stanley & Co. were major liquor and dealers in San Francisco and a number of embossed California whiskey bottles from the 1800's bear their name.
The bill measures 8-1/2" x 7" and is in excellent condition. There are a few creases in the high-quality paper aside from the ones made when it was mailed.
I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. I WILL NOT end an sale early or change it to BUY IT NOW. I prefer to ship everything via Priority Mail. California buyers MUST include 8.75% California Sales Tax or include a completed and signed California Resale Form with their payment.
Payment is expected within 5 days of the end of the sale.
