Here is an antique Black Americana photo album published by A. Wittemann, New York. Southern Types contains 12 interior photographs and a photographic cover of African Americans reminiscent from the era with stereotypical photographs such as mammy, picking cotton, Eating Watermelon, and an Uncle Remus type figure.
The book is bound in the original string bound wraps and has held up surprisingly well for age. This book was later renamed Types of the Sunny South: Indelible Photographs, and from research it appears this original book is the only of its kind making it truly rare.
