1890s Cabinet card post mortem baby in wicker carriage death funeral mourning:
$51.00

This cabinet card epitomizes the term \"Sleeping Beauty.\"

Up for sale is apost-mortem of an infant wearing a white nightgown with a ruffled lacecollar. The sleeves are gathered and there are large white bows made of picot ribbon at shoulder and wrist. The baby is laid out on a pile of pillows and blankets in a beautiful Victorian wicker carriage. The seat back is to the image\'sleft edge, and the tire of the carriage can be seen in the lower left corner of the image.

The photographer\'s information is embossed, without color, to the left of the image. It reads: \"DeVos Ground floor studio. Warsaw, Ind.\" There is a narrow spiral-patterned band embossed around the outer edge.

On the back is a very large studio logo, reading: I. DeVos Photographer 38 S. Buffalo St. Warsaw, Ind. [N.B. Some sources have DeVos listed as J. DeVos and others as I. DeVos. He is named Isaac more often than not.] There\'s also information about picture duplication with the logo. From business directories of the timeit appears that DeVos operated a gallery in Warsaw from about 1887 until sometime between 1895 and 1898.

Measurements: 4 1/4\" x 6 1/2\"

Condition: Mint. There\'s a very slight bump on the top left corner.

Thank you for looking and offerding.

Keep collecting - this is a beautifully pure card.
