This medal is a souvenir of the 1893 Chicago World\'s Fair, the World\'s Columbian Exposition. One side has a bust of Columbus, with his name in Spanish - CRISTOBAL COLON. The other side has an image of the Manufactures and Liberal Arts Building, with its name beneath the image and the name of the Exposition along the upper rim. This item appears to be composed of brass with a gilt surface treatment, some of which remains, and itmeasures approximately 27 mm (1-1/16\") in diameter.
This item is in very good condition, and it largely is a light gold color. There is a small amount of planchet defect on the bust side. This medal remains fairly bright.
