Up for offerding consideration is an example of a Chicago Lamp-Candle Co candle lantern used as lighting on Wooden Island during the 1893 Chicago World's Fair to celebrate the Japanese temples and gardens. After the world's fair the lamp would also be used as a candle lamp on a Christmas tree. This candle lantern is referenced in J.F. Madsen's, Christmas Lights and Other Related Candle Lamps, 1940. (I found a copy of this publication on line. It is 35 pages and I will include a copy with the lamp.) It has a beautiful amber color with hobnail pattern. It measures 4 1/4” in height and 1 3/4” diameter of top opening. Overall in excellent clean condition with no cracks. It has a factory ground rough top and some chipping inside of rim. Its original wire handle is missing, but one could be easily made. I can't imagine too many of these surviving. Would make a nice addition to a collection.
