Information about fake cut glass: (reproductions sold by Herb Wiener and others)
Article by Max Redden listing some of the patterns of fake glass sold by Herb:
Herb had a keep sense of patterns and how they fit on blanks, and plates often showed the patterns the best. He sold a lot of reproduction 7", 10" and 15" plates. If you asked about a pattern or had done business with him he would often have a piece he wanted to show you and would pull it out from a box under the table (these would almost always be the reproductions.) The modern day equivalent is buying real American Brilliant Cut Glass on and then have the seller offer you a very good deal on other glass that he has (the reproductions in Herb's case and he does sell cut glass on ) - this glass won't be seen and vetted by others. Be knowledgable about what you are buying!
Herb sells glass undervarious accounts and names on .
