Stowe died in 1896, and one of the tributes to her achievements was this Memorial Edition of UNCLE TOMS CABIN, which contained new illustrations, as well as supporting essays. The book also includes the text of the Emancipation Proclamation. The book was illustrated by four different illustrators, with the majority of the illustrations in the first half of the book executed by E. Thatcher, and the majority of the illustrations in the second half executed by C.M. Menkels. A thick work, bound in green cloth with gilt-stamped image of Uncle Tom on front cover, and title on spine. Book complete, although title page and frontispiece are detached, but still with book. Boards toned. Rest of text block firm and clean, with all illustrations present. Good luck!
