1899 Pop Priests Of Pallas Kansas City Art Nuevo Hand Beveled Mirror Mardi Gras :
This is a little hand mirror from the 1899 “Priests of Pallas” festival held annually in fall of the year at Kansas City that was a week-long of activities & festivities, with parades and masquerade balls, almost like K.C. having their own version of Mardi Gras. From what I have read, every year at the Priests of Pallas Ball there were only 1,000 invitations given out and each year they had different giveaways as souvenirs and and for the year 1899 it was this hand mirror. This mirror is made of a metal that has a wonderful raised design on the back of Athena (goddess of wisdom), Patroness of the Festival. Above Athena it says PRIESTS OF PALLAS and on the left side it says KANSAS CITY and on the right it says 1899 then it comes down and has a fancy handle too. The handle is a separate piece, not sure how it is aattached but itdoeshave a little or very slightplay in it, not bad but wanted to point out, also I had another one of these and it was the same way, so that mayhave been that way in thevery beginning. The mirror itself is beveled and does have wear of crackling and iscloudy which you could have it re-mirrored or have it replaced but I will leave that for the new owner, me I would keep it as is because it is the other side that I would display anyway. It is a heavy little mirror weighing approx.9 ounces. It measures approx. 8” long x 4 3/8” wide and 3/16” thick.I will ship for $8.95 and that will include tracking. SHIP USA ONLY. I accept PayPal ship within a business day or two after payment is received. Please read all before offerding.
